Changing Frameless Studio template settings in RH's 2026.01.11 version

Hello, I am requesting help in resolving issues with output published using RH’s Frameless Studio template.

  1. I updated to RH's 2026.01.11 version to publish content using the Frameless Studio template. The Search bar now overlaps the Header title. How can I change the template settings so it doesn't overlap? In the earlier version, the search bar appeared only when the search icon was clicked, and the title would temporarily disappear. I want to replicate this behavior. I’ve attached ‘before’ and ‘after’ update images for reference.
  2. I have a parent project and several child projects. I generate output using the merged projects feature. Upon publishing the output, the TOC is visible in the left pane only for 2 of the child projects. When I access a topic from subsequent child projects, the TOC and the breadcrumbs disappear. I have customized the Studio template using RH’s UI to change the color settings, some font settings, etc. This issue didn’t occur until 2 weeks ago. I have tried using an unedited Studio frameless template and regenerating the merged output from scratch to a clean folder. I use the Topic Layout globally from the output preset in the parent project. I’ve included images for reference - tocBrdCrmbVisible, chld3TopicClk, and tocBrdCrmbDisappear.

Thank you.

@KOMAL28790912m4ve Using the Orange template and the bar disabled, the icon for search is extreme right. When you click it, the icon disappears but there is one to the left of the search field. However, that does not close the search, you have to go back to the area where the icon was but that is now blank.

    That cannot be right.

Hi @sprite253, for the issue related to the search bar indicated in your first point , please find the details below:

In the RoboHelp 2026.01 release, a new template setting called Persistent Search Bar was introduced. This setting is available across the Orange, BlueLagoon, Studio, and Oceanic frameless templates.

    How it works

    • Enabled — The search bar remains open at all times on the topic page, providing quick and uninterrupted access to search.
    • Disabled — The search appears as a search icon. Clicking the icon expands the search bar and runs the search using the entered string; clicking outside collapses it back to the icon. But if you click on icon, the search runs again.

In earlier versions, the search bar appeared only when the search icon was clicked, and the header title was temporarily hidden. With the new Persistent Search Bar option, the title remains visible, which may cause an overlap with the search bar depending on the header width and custom styling.

To resolve this, you can adjust the header or search bar spacing using custom CSS. The CSS can be adjusted from the “Topic Page” tab in the template.

On 1, try widening the logo box.

Search has changed in 2026.01. See https://www.grainge.org/RoboHelp_Tour/rh2022/introduction/2022.htm

On 2, please post that in a separate thread. I will then delete that part from here and respond in the new thread. It’s best to keep unrelated issues separate.

Thank you, Peter. Unfortunately, widening the logo box shifted the title to the right because the logo and title are centered within the box. I read the notes you shared via the link about the update; how do I reduce the width of the search box? I don’t see a way to close the search bar either. I’ve included an image of the header.

Also, I posted item 2 in a separate thread titled ‘TOC and breadcrumbs disappearing upon publishing using RH's Frameless Studio Template’.

Update to my response above: Instead of widening the logo box, I adjusted the width and placement of the search bar and icon by changing the padding and width of the search-icon and search-textfield-selected in the layout. The issue with the search box not closing persists. I’ve included an image for reference.
