Question

Compiler Not Initializing

Sorry, I previously posted in the wrong discussion group (RoboHelp).

Is anyone aware of any file size restrictions for MS Word docs. I'm having trouble compiling in RH 7. I have an older project that compiles with a MS Word doc (MS Word 2002) about 55 MB. In my new project the same doc is now about 67 MB (MS Word 2003) and I can't compile any longer.

Are there MS Word file size limitations in RoboHelp for Word that would prevent the compiler from running. All I get now is that the help file was generated but I never see the compiler initializating.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John.

Hi John

In the future, if you post and you feel it's in the wrong category, just ask us to move the thread and we will.

32 mb of text is the limit. The file size can be bigger because of graphics etc.

Here's the low down.

Amusingly I found my way to this link from a thread where someone stated he had a file of 202 mb and on asking the limit, was told 32 mb. However, as the link will explain, that is possible, albeit apparently perverse.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the prompt response. As I stated, I have a 55 MB word file in my RobHelp for Word project. No problems compiling. I now have a 64 MB file in my RoboHelp for Word project. I can't compile. Obviously, I've exceeded the Mircrosoft limitation, but RoboHelp doesn't seem to mind. RoboHelp seems to mind now that my file has grown to 64 MB.

I may have to spit this file in two. at leat so both are under 55 MB.

Thanks again for your response and the time that you spend assiting the RoboHelp community.

Kind regards,

John
