If I create an HTML Help system with RoboHelp, is there any way to have it generate a user gude automatically?

Yes -- looking for a traditional document to handle old school clients who want to hold something in their hands -- I don't mind doing some adjusting. Just don't want to have to keep that document updated apart from help system.

You can, of course, create multiple Printed Documentation layouts, such as "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc. The second window of the layout wizard allows you to specify which topics will be included in that layout. We use that a lot to provide sections for review (Word files with "Track Changes" enabled).

In addition, you can conditionalize content, such as online navigation or specific images, to only appear in certain layouts. RH provides Online and Print as default, but you can add your own, as well, Remember this: all topics not assigned a condition tag will appear in all cases, so use conditions to exclude the content you don't want in a particular layout.

Good luck,

Do you mean Printed Documentation? You can generate that layout just like you can any others from your single source.

Eh, automatically? Nah... You'll need to create the .doc file and probably tweak it to get it just right.

Good luck,

What do you mean by a "user guide" and "automatically?" What differences would you see between the "HTML Help system" and "user guide?" Where I work we consider the help system to be the user guide or "manual."
