Custom PDF TOC

Hi All!

I would like to customize my auto generated Front Matter TOC page. I mean, so far, the TOC page is looking like this:

Chapter 1

  title 1 ............................pg 2

  title 2 .............................pg 3

Chapter 2

  title 1 ...........................pg 4

  title 2 ........................... pg 5

And I would like the following:

1. Chapter 1

  1.1 title 1 .............................. pg2

  1.2 title 2 .............................. pg 3

2. Chapter 2

  2.1 title 1.................................pg 4

  2.2 title 1................................ pg 5

Is there any way to auto generate the number of the chapters?

Thanks in advance

I am advised that if the H1, H2 etc styles in your topics have numbering, that should come through in the TOC.

Perhaps set up a quick test project to see how it works.

I will check later one idea that has come to mind but I am not hopeful.

You haven't said which version of RoboHelp you are using. Please always start a thread with this information.

  • Please go to Help > About and include the full version number.
  • If you are using 2019 also state whether it is 2019 Classic or 2019 New UI.

You also haven't said whether you are creating a PDF or Word document.

I don't think it can be done in either but if you create a Word template with a numbered TOC style in it, then it might work. If not apply a numbered TOC style post generation. You can PDF that afterwards.

Sorry, I forgot it..

Version 2022.2.22 and the query is about the PDF output.

So, maybe the only way is creating the TOC manually..
