DHTML Expanding text not working in Firefox

Hi All,

I am working with RoboHelp 7.

I have created DHTML expanding text as follows:

1. Inserted Show Me How graphic.

2. Click graphic and insert DHTML expanding text that includes a caption and a Flash Movie

3. Generate Help

RESULT:

In IE7 - exactly what I wanted, the movie appears next to icon and users can see how a task is done, instead of read through the procedure (or after reading procedure - -these are really complex procedures)

In FireFox (3.06) the expanded text does not appear. Rather, I click the icon and nothing happens.

My guess is that for optimal viewing of FlashHelp in Firefox I need to tell people to make sure they have certain add-ins installed - I don't have a problem with this since most FireFox users will install at least one or two plug-ins.

Do you know if I need to have some additional code in my topic for this to work in Firefox, or if there is a plug-in that will make it work?

Thanks!

Dvora

Hi there

Aside from the Flash Player to my knowledge there should be nothing more needed for things to work.

I just tested using RoboHelp 7 and FireFox and it works fine on my own PC here. I'm using FireFox version 3.0.11. I did try checking for updates in FF and it tells me there are none available.

What version of Captivate is being used to create the videos you are inserting?

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick,

I am not using Captivate. I'm using DemoBuilder v7.02.

Attached is a sample file that I use.

I've checked my Firefox settings... Java and Flash are both enabled.

But repeated testing: All OK in IE7, but not in Firefox.

Any ideas you can give me would be great.

Thanks

Deborah

Hi again

Unfortunately the file is still in a queued status and as such, is unreachable for testing.

If you like, send it to my private E-Mail at rstone75 (at) kc (dot) rr (dot) com. I'll be happy to test it on my own PC.

Cheers... Rick
