Question

different color of layout

good morning, I have been producing contextual help for a software product for years.

From this year the product has two types of layouts:

  • a dark background and white writing
  • light background and black writing.

Is it possible to make a single compilation that includes both layouts or do I have to make two different compilations with different colors?

thanks daniela

That is not something that is built in to RoboHelp as it cannot detect what the user has chosen in your software.

You will have to generate two outputs that use different Topic Layouts. Each will use a different CSS to give light and dark.

It is then up to your developers to identify whether your use has chosen light or dark and then call the required output.

    thanks peter,

    you are always precise.

ok then I will produce two css and compile two help. I will ask the developers to make different links depending on the type of layout requested.

    thanks

Kind of depends - does the help have to match each mode (light/dark)? Or can your users toggle between modes in the software and will expect the help to show both and let them choose?

My users have help that must match each mode (light and dark).

If users choose the dark mode of the software they expect the contextual help to be light and vice versa. We would like this to be automatic based on the user's choice of software layout.

    tks
