Question

Does anyone know how to prevent users copy and pasting text from online help?

I am currently creating a help project for a new product which is very innovative in its industry.  My bosses are worried that competitors will be able to cut and paste topics from the help project and then copy the product features.  Does anyone know of a way that I can prevent users from selecting and copying text when viewing the help?

if they want it bad enough, they will retype it if nothing else works.

and don't forget screen shots - no way to prevent those.

besides - they are only copying the help content, not the program code. someone at their shop would still have to design, develop, test and release the same functionality..

    Hi there

Indeed there is a way. It's to never make the information available to anyone. EVER!

Seriously, if someone wants the information they will get it. All you can really do is slow down the efforts.

Another thought is that you could store the help on a Web Server secured with a password. That way only users with credentials would be able to see the info.

    Cheers... Rick
