Question

Does HTML5 have a screen profile for the iPad Mini?

I have been using RH10 for about 6 months. I published for Desktop and iPad.

Now our app supports the iPad Mini. Is there a screen format for the Mini? Or is one one the way soon?

I need it today. We just discovered this issue with screen sizing on the Mini.

Thanks,

Jim

My first assumption was that I need a new iPad Mini screen layout, but that may not be the "primary" issue.

They say the app works fine on the Mini, but when they click on Help (which opens the HTML pages in Safari), the sizing is off and when they click on a help topic, it opens the wrong help topic.

That sounds more like a Safari rendering issue doesn't it? What are your thoughts. I just want to be sure I am not working on the wrong fix.

I could understand the sizing being off and that alone would mean needing to ensure each device type is calling the right profile and layout.

What should be happening is that your developers should be calling the top level index.htm page and letting that sniffer page find the right output. On your desktop put this link into your browser.

You will soon see it change and "desktop" will appear after it. Now put the link above into the browser on a device and it should find a different layout. Each one will make it clear the device type it was intended for. See how the iPad Mini fares as well.

You say when they click on a help topic, the wrong topic is opened. Where are they clicking?

Your link works for me in Windows (finds Desktop), and the iPad 4 (finds the iPad folder). I’ll have to get someone else to test it on the iPad Mini.

So, you are saying that I can point to the HTML5 folder, and I don’t even need to specify index.htm? If it is a Mini, how does it know to go to the iPhone folder?

I am a little confused about that part.

Thanks again for your help!

Jim

"Is there one on the way soon" and you need it today.

"We just discovered this issue" - What issue? I'm not able to see it on an iPad Mini but I rather expected it would work OK.

Try this. Linking your iPad profile to the iPhone layout. I'm not able to stop now to test it but I think it might work.
