Drop-downs Not Displaying When Published (HTML5 RoboHelp 2020)

Some drop-downs in my project are not working when published, even though they display correctly in my output preview.

One difference I noticed when comparing drop-downs that work correctly vs. those that do not work, is the ones that work correctly are labeled as Drop-Down Title type in the Content Properties pane. The drop-downs that don't work just display as "drop spot" style.

For context on how I publish, I generate my output to my C drive and then upload the files for my IT team to publish to our Help Center webpage.

How did you make out with this one @Chelsea3149403752uz ? Any updates?

The only significant difference I can see is the span tag around the dropdown title (Vertical Toolbar in this example). It contains properties data-open-text and data-skip-text. I don't know what they do but "skip" sound suspicious. 😛

Try deleting that span from one example and see if the dropdown starts working.

I tried removing the data-open-text and data-skip-text code and anything else that looked suspicious. After I did that, the drop-down were displaying as Drop-Down Title type in the Content Properties pane, so I thought that had fixed the problem. Nope. 😞 After I sent the generated outtput to IT and they loaded it to the site, the drop-downs looked even weirder:

Was it behaving on your local C:\ drive first?

It sounds like some dropdowns haven't upgraded from Classic correctly to me.

Can you post a couple of screenshots of the RH editor for a working one and a broken open? First get the regular editor view. Make sure you put the cursor right at the start of the dropdown text and capture the breadcrumbs bar at the top of the tab. Then select the whole dropdown (hyperlinked text and body text) and switch to code view and screenshot around the highlighted code.

Please use the Insert Photo icon to add the images inline with the text, as it's easier to help when the images and text are visible at the same time.

Here is an example of a working drop-down (Office Information):

Here is an example of one that is not working (Vertical Toolbar):

Something is nagging away that there was a similar post within the last few months but I cannot find it.

If the help works locally, it usually means something is not getting put on the server or the server is not configured correctly. Here we have seen reports of IT not thinking all the files are required. The answer to that is they are only required if you want the help to work. 🙂

I have assumed this is a web server rather than a file server. Two very different beasts.
