Duplicated topics in printed docs

Is there a way to prevent RoboHelp from duplicating topics in the Print Document Content - Printed Documentation dialog when generating printed docs? I just noticed my PDFs have doubled topics. I'm going back and manually deleting them on the dialog. How did they get duplicated in the first place?

Hi Gina,

One cause of duplicated topics in your printed documentation is having topics linked to books in the TOC. If a topic is linked to a book and also appears separately within the book, it will appear twice in the printed output.

If that's not the cause, someone else might be able to help. Have you checked out all the info on Peter Grainge's excellent site? He's got a whole section on printed documentation. His site is www.grainge.org.

This is to continue an old thread that's relevant to my work. AuthorAnne correctly identifies the problem, but leaves the situation as originally described-- the OP says "I'm going back and manually deleting them on the dialog." That's not a solution but simply living with the problem. Shouldn't RH have the smarts to prevent this? Looks like I'll need to write a big ugly Word macro to get rid of the duplicated topics (compare each title with the next title, etc). Is there a better way to do this?

I've found that this type of editing is rendered less onerous if you simply set View > Outline.

Set the "Show All Levels" dropdown to "Show Level 1" or "Show Level 2." You can then delete (or move, in my case) entire Heading 1 or Heading 2 sections by manipulating single lines instead of pages and pages. Macros will also work, but why bother?

Good luck,
