Question

Excluding a topic from search in filtered help

I'm running RoboHelp 2022.3.93

I have set up user-based condition tags to exclude some topics from the generated help. However, I see I can still search for and find those topics.

Is there a way to exclude those hidden topics from the search? I know I can use the TOC and topic properties to exclude them in general, but wouldn't that exclude the topics from search for the readers who need the topics?

Thanks much!

Cindy

The most likely issue, assuming you want to generate 3 separate outputs, is that you have applied the condition tags to the TOC entries only, instead of to the topics. Doing this will exclude the topics from the TOC, but will not exclude them from the output, so they will still show in search.

Go in to the topic properties and apply the tags there instead.

That description seems as clear as mud. Let me try to be clearer.

I have a help project with three condition tags. One of them is "BasicUsers" - and basic users should see only topics with that tag. They should not see topics for "OrgAdmins" or "ApplicationAdmins"

When I generate the help, the TOC is correct with only topics for the BasicUsers. However, if I search for a topic that should be visible only for ApplicationAdmins, I can find the topic.

I want to exclude those topics from the search.
