Question

: Frameless output index is empty despite index appearing correctly in project

Hello everyone,

I’m having an issue with the index in an Adobe RoboHelp frameless project and would appreciate any guidance.

In my project, the Index is clearly visible and populated within RoboHelp. All of my topics include the appropriate rh-index-keywords meta tag, and the keywords appear correctly in the Index panel.

However, when I generate the output, the Index is completely empty.

Here are a few details about my setup:

  • Project type: Frameless

  • The Index is populated and visible inside the project

  • All files contain rh-index-keywords metadata

  • In the output preset, under Content, I have enabled Include Index

  • The output generates successfully, but no index entries appear

Has anyone experienced this issue with frameless outputs? Are there additional settings or known limitations I should check to ensure the index is generated correctly?

Thanks in advance for your help!

What exact point version of RH are you running?

Nothing I can readily think of and you have covered the obvious.

  1. Try the About RoboHelp sample project. Same problem?
  2. Is your project on your C drive and is the output generated to your C drive?
  3. Try a new preset. Don't worry about getting all the settings the same. Just focus on the index.

Do any of those help?
