FrameMaker or RoboHelp

I'll need output for compiled HTML (.chm) and web help and printed .pdf manuals. It appears this could be done either by authoring directly in RoboHelp or by authoring in FrameMaker then importing to RoboHelp. What are the advantages to authoring in FM? Wouldn't it be simpler just to author directly in RH? Since I'm already familiar with RH I'm leaning that direction, but this will be a new project so I could start from a clean slate using another tool.

This is a difficult question for anyone to answer without knowing your exact requirements. RH has some nifty authoring gadgets (e.g. hotspots, DHMTL, etc.) that you can't have in FM. Similarly there are features in FM that are not in RH.

I think the answer will boil down to who will be doing the editing and what tool they are most familiar with. If the answer to that second question is RH, I'd probably plump for that as there would be less pontential for additional integration work. However it does depend on other factors.
