Glossary and Index position Changed after upgrading Robohelp version

Hi,

I have some old help files that were created in older version of Robohelp.

When I import those files and republish them, without making any change, glossary and index, which was on Right side of page is getting moved to bottom of page and as soon as i open help portal, screen jumps to bottom of the page towards index.

My current version of robohelp is 2020.5.71

All I need to see is what the user sees when they open the help in the old layout and the new layout that you are not happy with. Just two screenshots.

What all screenshots Should I share? I can share how UI looks. Is there any html or CSS that you want to look at?

If the older version was a Classic version, Oceanic was not available in that. It suggests the difference between the two is the new type of skin in what you are using.

Without decent screenshots of the two it's not possible to know what is going on.

Thanks but what I need is in Outputs > Output Presets. Open the preset you are using and go to Layouts. What skin name do you see there?

I have a feeling that might not help in your case. If not would you be able to share the project? Don't send anything until I have seen your reply.

Even if you have upgraded a supplied skin rather than an externally created one as below, the upgrade process is only designed to deal with skins customised through the editor. If you have manually edited the skin before upgrading, the new UI versions will not handle that. Could be the problem.

It has been suggested to me that your images look like something that was created by Willam van Weelden on the Help Essentials site. That site is no longer supported but all the scripts and skins are available on my site. However, they are for Classic versions only and will not work in the new UI versions.

We really need to know which skin you are using. Also please confirm you did not import it post the upgrade. I don't think you could but it needs to be ruled out.

I am not sure which skin is being used. I am new to this. Here is the screenshot of skins default.css that we are using.

Can you please direct me to correct location where this can be checked?

The images do not show the whole page and neither layout from what I can see is a standard skin. Which one are you using?

The edits mean it is still difficult to work out the issue, it looks like something that has been highly customised. Indeed, the layout is not like any supplied skin I have seen.

Were you creating a responsive output in Classic and is the problem with the same skin in 2020?

I think some screenshots showing the problem would help here. Please use the photo icon to insert images within the post. Seeing an image inline with the text makes it easier for anyone answering or viewing the post.

I don't think 2022 will help here but 2020 is a subscription model so you can upgrade to later versions without any further charge.

Attaching two images below. I had to remove content, but structure is there. Issue is with Search/Glossary and things under it. In first image, these things are moving to bottom of page Expected position is on Top right as shown in second image.

I have 2020.08.34 version now. Old version is not available anymore and this was a fresh install of 2020.05 in new machine. All skins are same, or atleast I haven't modified anything. I am just trying to make old help portal work the same in new version of Robohelp so I can proceed with my changes.

Any reason why you aren't trying this upgrade with RH2020 Patch 8 (or even RH2022 - your subscription entitles you to have it)?

Hi,

I have now updated to Patch 8. My company does not provide RH2022.

Issue of Index moving to bottom along with jumping is still happening in 8.

This script has something that is causing focus to jump to bottom of page, because after i remove this file, focus stays on top of page.

Still positioning of index and glossary stays at the bottom. When I open old portal, it shows everything correctly, but just as i import source to Robohelp and regenerate, it all shifts to bottom.

Did you re-upgrade your Classic project again using Patch 8? What sort of output are you creating? It will probably need to be adjusted in RH2020.
