Help-specific topics added to RH7 project are not displaying in Flash Help

I'm using RH7 in the TechComm Suite and I'm trying to generate Flash Help.

My RH project consists of FrameMaker books that have been added by reference to my project, but I need to add several topics to the RH project itself, such as a Welcome Page and a Legal Page that are not included in the FM books.

I have noticed that every time I do an update, it wipes out these help-specific topics from the Index and the TOC.  Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

    Hi there

That's likely where using placeholders would come in handy. Create a different TOC and Index with only the items you need to always be there. Then insert placeholders that point to the TOC and Index you get when you do updates.

There are icons in both the TOC and Index pod that allow you to insert placeholders.

Click the images below for possibly larger views.

Wow, this works great if you remember to change the index and TOC names when generating Flash Help. This worked like a charm.

    Thanks so much, Rick.

The good news here is that this should be a one off. When you configure the dialog for the Single Source Layout recipe and choose the desired Index and TOC, it should be remembered and you shouldn't have to change it each time.
