Question

How do you generate Page Numbers on PDF output?

I'm wondering how to generate page numbers on PDF output.

The RoboHelp Help doesn't seem to cover it.

There is nothing in the Review - Create PDF for Review, nor in the Printed Documentation SSL areas that allows you to include page numbers on an outputted PDF.

Hi there

As the PDF for Review isn't really intended for printing, I'm guessing that's why you aren't able to use or see Page Numbers.

PDF for review is simply created in order to allow SMEs to view pages and add comments directly to the topics. Then the PDF comments are pulled back into the project and are already associated with the topics they belong to.

In that case, Page Numbers would hold no relevance, no?

I'm comparing to a program called "Help&Manual" which has a delightful little button called "Publish" which produces a nice page-numbered PDF.

So, yes, true the "PDF for Review" might be the culprit - it doesn't include page numbers - which would be useful for a review of hardcopy printed documentation.

If I right-click "Printed Documentation the PDF is checked and "Generate Word doc" unchecked. "PDF Settings" are greyed out. (Does this mean I have to install the RoboHelp PDF support rather than my currently-installed Acrobat 9)?

I can generate the PDF okay, just no page numbers. Illogical.

More soon - have to rush.

Maybe your version of Acrobat is not the correct version for the version of Rh that you are using.

The PDF you are talking about in Help and Manual is the equivalent of Printed Documentation in RH, which as Rick has pointed is not the same thing as a PDF Review.
