Question

How to add an Options button to FlashHelp using RH7

I'm using RoboHelp HTML Version 7.03.001, and creating FlashHelp output using the FlashHelp Default skin. I have selected "Options" as a desired button in the Windows Properties dialog box for all new windows. I want end users to be able to shut off the search highlighting. But no Options button appears in my Help output. Other selected buttons that DO appear are Contents, Index, Search, Glossary, Print.

Hi KC

I stand to be corrected here, but I believe the Options you are seeing pertain only to compiled Microsoft HTML Help files. (.CHM format)

At any rate, to add a new button to a FlashHelp skin requires having Adobe Flash installed on your computer as well as a working knowledge of how to use Flash and its associated ActionScripting language. It is my opinion that precious few folks have all the requisite skills needed to make those changes.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for responding Rick, But I'm still hoping for a better answer. I'm definitely not Flash literate so if ithe Options button is unsupported in FlashHelp (which incidentally is not documented in the RH7 Help that I could see, plus the UI lets you select it), that's really a bummer. It means I'll have to shut off the search highlighting because it's way too annoying to be unable to turn it off.

Hi there

Can you please insert a screen capture of what you are seeing where it's a selectable option?

Cheers... Rick
