How to remove style (RH 2020.7.46)

Question

Hi, Everyone.

I'm trying to remove styles from text. Example: h3 or "disc" (bullets). I've tried:

In the Styles Menu I try "none" but that doesn't work.
The "Clear Formatting" button in Content Properties. But that doesn't work either.

Are those commands malfunctioning? Aren't they supposed to remove the styling?

My workarounds: I end up either just cutting the text and pasting it back via "paste text only" (ctrl + shift + v). Or I delete the style tags in code view.

At least when removing "disc" style, I can expand the Bullets button and choose "None," and that works fine. But what about the rest of the styles?

As far as lists are concerned the steps are:

Select the list.
Go to Lists on the top toolbar and select None.
Go back to the toolbar or the Styles panel and apply the list style you want. It will do so without a P tag being applied in the code. In other words it will be a pure list.

As far as H3 etc is concerned, what do you mean by Remove Styles?

Do you mean anything inline such as having made one instance of the style red you want the default for H3 to apply? If so Clear Formatting works fine.
Otherwise you just apply another style.

Thanks Peter, didn't know that about creating a "pure list." And also for explaining how "none" is to remove classes. Very good to know.

Re. "removing" h3, etc., I now see what you mean by "just change to another style." Another style can be "p." That's what I was overlooking.
