Hyperlinks not returning to the origin it was selected

In my generated online help (using responsive HTML5)

the user is halfway down a topic and follows a hyperlink to another topic
Hit the Backspace button (or any manually created Back button created in the layout)
The user is returned to the top of the Topic NOT the place they originally selected the hyperlink (halfway down the topic).

Has anyone else experienced this or know how it can be fixed?
