no matter how many times in insert an image into the help document, after i compile, the error wizard says the file cannot be found. and yet, it is in the same folder as all other files for this project.

Anybody have any ideas?

I figured it out. I had some images in the project folder and some in an image folder. For some reason, the BMRoot was no longer seeing the ones in the project folder. I rearranged the locations of the images and used only one absolute path to the image folder. I'm not sure why this suddenly broke, though; it worked in the past with images in multiple places... Oh, well, now it's fixed.

My images are all in true code and inserted through "Insert Image". They previously worked when I compiled this project.

Please see my first post in this thread.

Before you compile, you must convert to true code. In other words, you will not see the images in your documents, just the reference to them.

I figured it out: In the HPJ file, you need absolute file paths to the images. See:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=rb_64152

This article states that it applies to version X4, but apparently it applies to later versions, as well.

Hope this helps others.

I read through this article because I am having this exact problem. All my images are broken in the WinHelp compile (but work in the active check and work in the Webhelp compile). I don't quite understand the "absolute path" reference. I'm assuming that means enter the exact path in the BMRoot folder. For example C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\images

I did this, saved and recompiled, and the images still don't appear. Could someone explain this more fully for me or offer other suggestions? Thanks so much!

I am getting this same error in RH for Word 7. Converted the project from X5 and now none of the images are showing in compiled WinHelp. Error Wizard states "Cannot find the bitmap", even though it is appearing in the project, BMROOT is specified correctly, and I can see the images (BMP files) when I do Active Test.
I have tried everything I can think of -- still no images.

Strangely, in a different project that I treated the same way, the images are showing up, no problems. I have searched like crazy and cannot see any difference in the way images are handled in the two projects.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

I'm sorry but I don't use RH for Word enough to have any other suggestions beyond wondering if an uninstall and reinstall is worth a try. Somehow I don't think that is it if everything else is OK.

Any RH for Word users lurking?

Not sure. Can you establish whether the problem is 100% to do with the TIFs that were converted?

I have tried using the same image from JIF, JPG, TIF and get the same result. I am just importing the image as you would normally with Word. I was wanting to use the Shed functionality, but oh well

How are you inserting the images? You must use the RH menu in Word or the icon, not cut and paste.

I am just using the icon to insert from the RH menu uptions. I never had this happen before. I have renamed the image files to shorter names. The originals were TIF's that i converted to BMP's
