importing Word 2003 docs into RH7 HTML

I imported Word 2003 docs into RH7 for HTML and they looked fine in the WYSIWYG window. However, when I preview the topics in the Browser, I get HTML code for a dash, quotes and other characters. It is an incredibly tedious process to try to search and replace the HTML code in each document. Is this typical of Word or Word 2003 docs that are imported into HTML, or is this a RH bug? Does anyone have any suggestions of how to resolve the issue?

Be sure you've downloaded all three RH7 patches (7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3).

I think 0.2 is the one that fixed these symbols, but install each of them, in order.
