Is RH 2017 backward compatible with RH 2015 source

I have product online help source authored by various folks in RH 2015.

I am joining them with RH 2017. If I edit the RH 2015 source will there be issues in compatibility? Output?

Of is installing RH 2015 and then editing the source the best option and holding off RH 2017.

Any suggestions would be useful.
