Question

Is the WebHelp output different in RH 2017 and 2020?

Hi all,

I have a dilemma regarding the way my WebHelp looks now as opposed to in the old version. This isn't a major issue, I just wanted to check that I'm not doing anything wrong.

Here is what my WebHelp looked like when I generated it from RH 2017:

I open the Welcome page in htm format, click Show, and then a new page opens with the TOC on the side.

A similar thing happens in RH 2020 but the skin is a lot different, and it doesn't say Show anymore, but rather the title of the guide:

So I open the Welcome page in htm format like before, click the title at the top, and then a new page opens with the TOC on the side.

I just wanted to check if the previous look is no longer available or if I'm doing something wrong when setting up the Output options.

Thanks in advance!

WebHelp no longer exists in RH New UI. While your output preset may be labelled WebHelp, it is actually now a Responsive HTML output. You can confirm this by looking at the icon next to your output preset -  a shield containing a 5 indicates Responsive; a globe indicates Frameless.

Part of the benefit of Responsive (and Frameless) output is that the layout adjusts based on the size of the window (for example, collapsing the table of contents pane on mobile phones). If you don't want this functionality there is a setting in the skin that you can turn off.

The default skin would be Azure Blue, but you may have to add the skin manually in the Skin panel if you want to customise the colours and logos to match your branding. And also manually select the skin in the preset to make sure it is correctly set.

As a new user of New UI, you may also want to consider switching to Frameless. It's easier to customise, and it seems like that is where Adobe is concentrating most of their effort these days.

Thank you for the reply! The default skin works for us for now, but I'll take a look at Frameless as well, thanks for the suggestion!
