Question

ISF file behaving differently when imported vs. when linked

Hi

I am using RH11 with FM12 book.

We get FM12 book into RH11 and publish outputs from there. (We are aware of publishing directly from FM, but due to some FM template restraints we take this approach.)

For this, some of use import approach and others take the Linked route. However, we have noticed that formatting, especially lists, don't get applied as defined in the ISF file when we import the FM book. Is this a known issue? It works perfectly when we link.

Yes it’s true that the same isf file when used for importing doesn’t have anywhere near the same amount of info in it as when it’s used for linking. The argument that I always got from Adobe on this was that with importing, RH wouldn’t know anything about what stuff was in the FM file because it could be a different FM file each time (each of which with completely different paragraph and character tags in them).

ISF contains RHStyleMapping.css which has the tags mapped. So, their argument is incorrect.

Never claimed that it was valid – just that’s what they told me way back when ;>)
