It takes over 7 minutes to open RoboHelp

I am running RH 7.002.001 on XP SP2. I have 2GB ram and 40GB free space on a defragmented drive. I have a Celeron processor. Even with only Outlook open, it takes 5 to 8 minutes to open my RH working environment. I have turned off Automatically check for updates and I checked Use Offline Help. Our office has generous internet bandwidth. My working environment at the moment opens the following pods: Topic List, TOC, index and glossary, the Output view, variables, SSL and the Project Set-up group. It seems that I have to click with the mouse to even get these mdi items to show up once the RH database has loaded. The project has about 350 htm files and many more images. Any ideas?
Thanks!

    Correct answer Peter Grainge
1] Is the project on your local drive?

2] If not, move it there.

3] If it is, then make a copy and with RH closed delete just the CPD file. Open the copy and see if that makes a difference.

It shouldn't give problems but nothing is guaranteed. It has the same effect as compacting the database, it removes redundant information that slows thing down.

Thanks, Peter. That seems to have made a difference; I'll see how things progress. If RH slows down again, is this a technique that can be used safely regularly? It seems to act like a defrag operation.
