Java is not found when attemtpting to generate PDF. Mac Ventura. RoboHelp 2022.

when I try to generate PDF I get errors dues to RoboHelp not finding Java.

I have read posts for similar issues on earl;ier versions of Mac and RoboHelp.

I have tried all of the following:

- Using both Java 8.0 and jdk-20

- Resetting the RoboHelp Java Home Path

- Launching RoboHelp from the terminal

I would really like definitive instructions on: the Java version to use, the correct HomePath variable and any other wizardry that will help me with this.

Thanks in advance.

Only Intel chipped Macs are currently supported. Adobe are working on an update to support ARM chipped Macs but I don't have a date.

Are there 64 vs 32 bit versions of java for Mac? If yes, you could try installing the other one and seeing if that works.

Otherwise I think you need to contact Adobe. See the following page for support contact options. The email address on this page is recommended as it goes to a dedicated Robohelp team. https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp

Thanks very much for the link. With regard to 32 bit versus 64 I am using the ARM64 version as I am on a Mac with an M2 chip.

It is seeming likely that there dependencies built into Robohelp that don't live niocely with my configuration. I will see if I c an get help from robohelp support and will eport back on this thread if I get a esolution.

Editing  the .profile file to include JAVA_HOME as advised does not work. The version of Mac I am on, Ventura, does not use the bash shell so this is not surprising.

I have also tried adding to the ~/.zshrc file: export JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home)

    This does not work.

JAVA_HOME is set  to where the Oracle installer now installs Java: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home

I did try installing the jdk to the old /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines1/jdk-20.jdk and setting JAVA_HOME accordingly. That did not work.

It is as if there is something hard-coded in Robohelp.

Anway, any more advice is appreciated.
