Question

Lost CSS

I have a large project that I maintain and add to. It is normally output to two destinations, one is a chm file, one is a web file. The web file is uploaded to a remote server, the chm file is included in our installation exe. Each of these outputs uses a different condition.

I have a conditional statement in every page that will include one of two stylesheets depending on the output destination.

For no apparent reason, Robohelp has decided it no longer wants to include my default stylesheet into the web output files. The Log simply states "Skipped copying external file "C:/Users/andrew.snape/Cimatron Work Folder/css/default.css" - even though the file is not external, it is included in the project.

Can anyone offer some advice?

You haven't said which version of RoboHelp you are using. Please always start a thread with this information.

    • Please go to Help > About and include the full version number.
    • If you are using 2019 also state whether it is 2019 Classic or 2019 New UI.

From the response I'm pretty sure you are using  one of the new UI versions. Somehow the link in one or more topics is seeing the CSS as being external. Usually by somehow having linked to an external copy rather than the one in the project's assets folder. Can be caused by pointing to the CSS in the output folder rather than the source folders.

In your topic(s) it will show as a relative path but in the output as the full path. That make finding the topic(s) with the wrong link a little tricky. Use Find and Replace set to source files and look for just part of the path. Try Cimatron Work Folder/css/default.css in this case.

The CSS file does not have to be in the assets folder but check if there is one there. If there is, that is not showing in the path you have given. That supports pointing to an external CSS.
