Manage asset files in RH2020

I purchased RH2020 and would like to convert my project and permanently use the new software. I have a HelpFile originally created in RH9 and have purchased upgrades along the way. Currently I'm using RH2017 for development updates. When I converted by project over to RH2020 I found that all my PDF Baggage files, images, and .CSS files were literally piled up in a new folder named "assets". I have over 1800 PDF Baggage files loaded up in here, and the file names are mostly gibberish (that's just how they were provided to me). When I built the project in the previous versions all these files were conveniently stored, each under their associated project folders and topics. As I needed to replace outdated PDF files the old files were easily found in File Explorer, deleted, and then replaced in the project by uploading the new file. RH2020 makes this a bit more difficicult what with needing to sort through a pile of files.

Is there any other way to manage the Baggage Files in RH2020 other than having them all piled up in one asset folder?

Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions. I was glad to see that this had been addressed and potentially fixed back in RH2020.1. Unfortunatly I cannot get the files to load correctly even with RH2022.2.22. I don't know if the problem resurfaced with one of the upgrades, but when I do an Upgrade RoboHelp Classic Project, I don't get any options, the files just upload and the result is that all of my .pdf baggage files are located in the assetts-docs folder, and not in the respective original folders. I think I will submit a ticket as Amebr suggested, unless there is something else I should try first.

Can you share the Classic project? If you can, then see the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.

If you can't share, then as @Amebr said, a ticket will take some time. Also it might not get you anywhere if there isn't a bug. Instead try Adobe Support. See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

What changed in Update 1 was that instead of moving all assets to the assets folder, only assets in the root of the project now get moved. If your files are all in the root of your classic project, then they will still get moved.

In Classic it was always bad practice to keep lots of files in the root of a project as it slowed things down.

Perhaps move them in Classic before upgrading?

Theoretically this was fixed in RH2020 Update 1, but it could have been broken again. https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/RH-6666

Check what version of RH2020 you have, although I'd assume your download would be the latest for RH2020.

Also, your license allows you to upgrade to RH2022, so you could install that version and see if it works correctly.

If it's not fixed, you can log another ticket (reference the original issue and this thread in the ticket) but that will take some time to get a result. Other than that your only option would be to drag and drop all the files back to the original folders after you upgrade. Not ideal, but it would be a once off.

Thank you for the quick reply Amebr. I have RH2020.8.34. I just upgraded my project again, with the same result. I wasn't sure if my license allowed for me to update to 2022. Thank you for confirming that. I'll update my software and try again.
