Map ID for a heading

Must be me, but I can't find any instructions on how to insert a Map ID for headings in a Topic.

I want the Map IDs to be granular: go to a specific place in a topic, not just the topic.

I need to hand some "stuff" over to the Devs.

How do ya'll do it!?

Take care

    Correct answer Peter Grainge

Expand all the topics and then hold down the CTRL key to select each one. Then drag all those selected across.

It shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

Try adding a bookmark before the heading and typing in the name. I am not seeing the problem you are.

Works like a charm! But because of the bug I have to remember all the bookmark names  😉  However, I'm going to do the bookmarks one-by-one, so I can rename them for sanity's sake.

So ... I'm not losing my mind 😉

    Another question I have is:

    • Do I have to MANUALLY drag all bookmars to the MAP ID window?

I may only have about 50 or so for this project, but wow, if you have a big project ...

Is there some type of automatic "add all Bookmarks to Map ID" command?

    Take care

My method was correct but the UI is misleading.

Below is the map ID after using the bookmark, either by dragging or browing.

It looks like the topic has been mapped rather than the bookmark. However, if you right click the map file and select the Show in Explorer option, it will take you to the ali file. Open that with a text editor and you will see it is pointing to the bookmark.

I was always a URL person and the Map IDs are not working how I thought.

I changed the bookmark to my initials and that came through when I clicked the + sign to add a bookmark so I am not seeing the issue you are. However, when I select the bookmark, it shows the topic title rather than the bookmark.

I'll see if I can figure out what is wrong here.

Instructions for what? I assumed you knew about Map IDs generally.

Create a bookmark at the heading, then map to that.

    Got it, thanks!

However, I define the bookmark, usually by selecting the heading and the bookmark's name is usually the text selected. But, when I go to map that bookmark, its name changes to "default1". I thought it would take the name of the bookmark and put it in the Map ID list? What am I missing?
