Merge Parent and Children Html Projects

What is the best way to Merge Projects using a Parent Project and Children Project file construct as noted in several guides. The only addition to the Parent Project we do is adding the Child Projects to the TOC linking the Child Project Input folder and selecting the rhpj file.

Do I need to Link, Edit Settings, and include the Child Project in the Parent Content?

If the only thing I have to do is add the Child Project rhpj to the TOC and change the source code, what html file(s) in the Child Projects Input or Output folder do I include?

What steps am I missing in my Merge process?

You haven't said which version of RoboHelp you are using but to the best of my knowledge it's the same answer in all versions. Sorry but that answer is no, a sequence is unique to each child.

That's as far as built in functionality is concerned. What you could try is adding a topic at the end of say child one and including a redirect in it. That redirect would link to the first topic in child two when you would be into the next sequence. It's not something I have done but I can't see why it would not work.

Setting up a redirect is described in my pages on merged help.

We are using RoboHelp 2020.6.76.  I found the instructions for setting up a redirect on your page. It seems straight forward.

    Thank you.

Yes, my team resolved this and have only one outstanding item. We haven't figured out to get the Browse Sequence to work.

We downloaded your demo and reviewed it several times, we must be missing something, we don't see a Browse Sequence in it either.

The browse sequence issue has been resolved. The browse sequence in the children projects carry over to the final output.

I'm not sure where you are looking but the merging of CHMs is also explained on my site.

Also why are you looking at source code? What source code?

Do download Peter's merge demo project. Playing with that will help you understand the structure.

Thank you Peter and Ameber. I downloaded Peter's merge demo project. As you said, It help me understand the file structure better. I used the same structure, added the child TOCs, generated the project, and checked the source code. The child projects do not show in the source code.

How do I merge Parent and Children HTML Projects?

Essentially you just add the children to the parent TOC but how you structure the child projects relative to the parent can also be important.

It's all explained on my site.
