Missing Keywords

RH 4.0, Word 2000. When I create my printed documentation from a WebHelp project, some index keywords are missing for some topics. I can see that the hidden XE is missing in the heading of the Word topic. I have not been able to figure out the pattern for the keywords get dropped. I was able to delete the keywords from one topic and re-add them, successfully getting them to appear in Word's index. However, that technique did not work with another topic. It may be that the problem topics are very old and have been converted from multiple versions of RH. It also may be because the keywords have been switch from topic-level to Index File (HHK) level more than once over the years. Right now, all keywords are at the topic level. Does this problem ring a bell with anybody?

I solved it. A good night's sleep does help. When I import the topics into another project, the Word index is fine. These are "prototype" topics that we include in every project. I believe the problem is that I have two sets of the prototypes in different folders in the original project. Not sure if my conclusion is correct, but because the second set will be going away soon, and because the only purpose of the prototypes projects is to provide source to be imported into other projects, there is no longer a problem.

Peter, you asked me about linking index entries to a bookmark. Did you mean in RH? How do you do that?

Create or highlight the keyword. Drag the bookmark from the Topics list to the Index tab.

Beware, these links will not be in any printed document as there is a bug but the method is OK for online help.

Email me offline if necessary and I will send you some screenshots.

Are the keywords that are missing linked to a bookmark, rather than the topic?
