Question

My TOC keeps coming out flat!!

Hi folks,

I have been trying for many hours to get this to work, but I am having no success.

I am using Technical Communicator Suite 4.  My FM11 book is "linked" into RoboHelp 10, I am generating HTML Help as my output.

I have three heading levels in my FrameMaker doc (Heading 1, Heading2, Heading3) (there's are "Automapped" to RH's Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3 styles).

I also have three chapter files and a TOC in FrameMaker.

I have followed all the advice in the TCS4 online help and in this Adobe blog article http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2010/03/demystifying_mapping_filesettingisf_and_toc_generation.html

about how my FrameMaker TOC has to be "indented" but I simply cannot get it to work.

The TOC I get in RoboHelp has a "book" for each chapter file in FrameMaker, then a "topic" within it for each Heading1, 2 and 3 - but these topics are not nested, they're all flat.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you post a screen capture of your Fm TOC?

I believe there's a correlation to both margins and point sizes when creating the Rh TOC.

Hi Matt, it looks something like this (I've obfuscated the text content a bit)

As you can see, the indentations and fonts sizes are all as advised by Adobe's docs.

Although I find these confusing - do they mean the indents, font size, weight etc of the FM "HeadingN_TOC" paragraph styles? Or the indent/tabbing on the TOC Reference Page? Or the FM "HeadingN" paragraph styles themselves? Or the resulting styles in RoboHelp's RHMappingCSS file?

In any case I've applied the indents to all of these and still the TOC in Robohelp comes out as a book for each FM chapter file, and a flat list of topics for each heading.

I have also have the "Pagination (Split into topics based on this style)" checkbox ticked for the three headings.
