Opera Browser Problems: TOC not expanding & search showing error

RoboHelp HTML

RH8

Opera 10.10

In the WebHelp project generated, my table of contents (TOC) does not expand in the Opera browser.  Regardless of whether I click the + sign next to my topics or the topic text, the TOC does not expand.

Also, when I select the search tab/link in my output, an error is listed where the results would be shown, which states, "Error: Failed to initialize database."

I haven't been able to located any suggestions in the RoboHelp documentation or on the forum, so I don't have a clue where to begin.  I know that these problems don't exist in Explorer, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.  Any suggestions you have would be most helpful!

Opera is not a supported browser. If the help is otherwise working OK in IE, FF and Safari, there might not be much you can do about it.

Thank you both for your helpful responses!

I was under the impression that Opera was supported from this link.  Unfortunately, I totally missed the date and the word archived in the subject.

It would be nice if the RoboHelp documentation had an explicit section on supported browsers because all I could find was a listing for additional browsers on the What's New in RoboHelp 8 page.

Happy New Year!

You should add a comment via Community Help stating "only IE, FF and Safari are supported and that should be covered in the help". That way others find that information and it gets to Adobe's attention.

Peter, after looking at the Community Help, I wasn't 100% sure where I should make this post.  Could you send me a direct link?  I may be looking at the wrong thing.

Hi there

You might try creating a "Pure HTML" version of your help. See if that displays okay in Opera. If so, perhaps your developer could create a routine that checks the browser and opens the desired help.

Or, you could create a link in the main help system that would allow an Opera user to click and open the "Opera version".

Cheers... Rick

I'm also trying to resolve this issue with Opera & Robohelp.  I've generated a Pure HTML copy of my help and the TOC chapters expand now; however, they do not stay expanded when navigating to the next chapter heading.  Also the Search tab has every character in the Help doc as a searchable entry.
