Question

PDF generation not following Header styles version 2022.1.188

Running RoboHelp 2022.1.188 on a windows PC.

I generate my PDF and what is set in topic as H1 is showing up as H2, H2 is showing up as H3, H3 as H4 etc. Whyyyyyy????

And no, I cannot change the settings in the topic because I publish frameless output and all the headings show up totally right on there.

Please help. I'm sooo confused.

Thanks,

Lori

I have revised this answer. Please see RH2022 PDF Templates (grainge.org) and in particular Settings > General which has been rewritten after further testing.

Try deselecting the options and using caps to differentiate the sections.

See the Settings section of this topic

In particular see Readjust Heading Levels As Per The Source TOC Hierarchy in the table.

Thanks for the insight. I followed the guidance and found the settings from the other post and turned them off:

That fixed the content in my PDF to use the correct header styles. However, the TOC no longer follows the structure of the defined TOC that I created. I've very confused. I want my TOC to dictate order and structure of overall PDF, but within the sections, I want my heading styles followed. Is this just too much to ask??

    Thanks.

Doh! I didn't think about that one. Thanks @Amebr for picking it up. That is likely the issue.

@Peter Grainge In Classic there used to be a checkbox "Maintain HTML Heading levels" which would use the H1 etc from the topic rather than setting the heading levels to match the toc levels. Is there a similar setting in New UI? I don't have access to RH2022 right now to check.

Ooh! Perhaps play with the "Readadjust" and "Add or replace" checkboxes you can see in the second screenshot in this post. I've never used them but they sound relevant. 🙂

First of all Update 2 fixed some PDF issues so apply that. As you are on 2022.1 you have to follow this link https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/whats-new-robohelp-2022-release-update-2.html and click the link in the red box. I very much doubt that is the issue but there are other issues you may find when this one is out of the way.

    Try changing this setting first.

Then apply a colour to H1 and H2 here to see if that affects things.

I'm not sure what is causing the issue but try those things first.
