Question

Please tell me I'm not crazy: how to customize robohelp styles...

I'm using Robohelp 8 with Frame 9.

Let's say I want to do something kinda basic (I think it's basic).

I have a style GREMLIN in Frame.

When GREMLIN is converted to Robohelp, I would like it to not actually display any text associated with GREMLIN, rather display an JPEG.

So if GREMLIN says:  "WARNING" in Frame, I would like it to display a JPEG after Robohelp conversion (a graphic with a warning symbol, or something) instead of "WARNING".

I'm an old hand using Webworks, where this sort of thing is trivial.

But for the life of me I can't figure out how to write custom HTML for custom styles.

Please tell me this is possible - and other things like this, but much more complicated.

Does this mean I am, in fact, crazy?

Here is another simple example.

Let's say you have a Frame style called QUOTE.  It makes whatever text is in there indented and italicized.

You convert to Robohelp, but want QUOTE to no longer be indented or italicized, rather, to have " put at the start, and " at the end.

So this:

A Frame style called QUOTE is here replicated...

Turns into this after Robohelping:

"A Frame style called QUOTE is here replicated..."

Is this flat out impossible?

Hi there

I seriously doubt your sanity issues. So you probably aren't crazy.

I'm guessing that your response is targeted toward the fact you saw no replies to your post. I think that is indicative of the few numbers of folks (at least visiting these forums) that are combining Frame with RoboHelp. There are a great many RoboHelp users that frequent these forums, but very few of us know Frame. I've used RoboHelp since version 2 (I started in 1992 with it) and I only recently looked at Frame. I was immediately beset by what appears to be a very serious lack of help in getting started with it. I did open the help, but all it did was say this screen gizmo does this and that screen gizmo does that. There was no conceptual information that advised me what it was all about or how it fit together.

For example, in RoboHelp I might imagine the help would tell me that you begin by creating a RoboHelp project. A RoboHelp project consists of a Table of Contents, an Index, a Glossary... and so on.

Anyhoo, enough whinging for now.

I really hope you find some help. You might also wish to post your issue in a different venue. I'm also subscribed to a Google Group where you may find other help.

Thanks for the response.

I'd also like to hear from Word - to Robohelp people, or any other people out there, really.

What is the customization capability of Robohelp?

Can you do more than change the font, size, indent, etc. all the super basic stuff?

Or is that it?
