Question

Printed Documentation

When I click the Printed Documentation single source layout, a dialog box appears containing the error, The parameter is incorrect. The only option in the dialog box is an OK button. Clicking the OK button produces the dialog box again and again so I have to use the Windows Task Manager to close the program. The error appears no matter which project I have open at the time. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Google Word error 5003. The response I looked at suggested some sort of system problem.

Have you tried just generating a Word document rather than going direct to PDF?

If that fails, is there another PC to which you can install RH making sure your logon still has the correct rights? Don't activate as when you have tested you will want to uninstall RH from that PC.

Check your security level in Word. It is probably set to High and needs to come down to Medium. The prompt is normal. I just click No.

Here is something else I noticed. If I use My Computer to double-click the Word document that is copied to my project folder, I get Word error 5003. The original Word document doesn't produce that error.

The fact that Word is not playing nicely with RH in either direction makes me think it would be worth uninstalling and reinstalling RH.

You said earlier you installed RH yourself but did not confirm that your logon has admin rights. That is very important.

I had our IT department check and you were right - I didn't have admin rights. I now have them.

Unfortunately, after uninstalling and reinstalling RH, I am still getting the error Failed to generate printed documentation.

Also, RoboHelp Explorer keeps asking me if I want to save my document template?

In the project that you can click the layout, what happens when you try to generate a printed document? Does it go all the way through and print OK or does it fall over with some other error?

What version of Word are you using?

When I am able to click the Printed Documentation layout successfully, I get a series of dialog boxes, which I run through, and then I get a message that says Failed to generate Printed Documentation. See compilation message for details. The options are OK and Help. Clicking Help provides general help on printed documentation.

Sorry but the short answer at the moment is NO. This problem has been seen when attempting to delete files but one of the projects was sent to me and I was able to delete the files OK.

Is your project on a network drive? Was RH6 installed with your logon and with admin rights?

My projects are stored on my local drive. I installed RoboHelp, myself, locally. The problem occurs when using RoboHelp For Word and when using RoboHelp HTML.

However, I just did a test by creating a new project without importing any Word documents and I can click the Printed Document single source layout without the error. The projects to which I have imported a Word document are causing the problem.
