Problem with auto-sized popup links

I am trying to work with auto-sized popup links and not having any luck.  I am using Version 2022.4.179, which I am pretty sure is the latest available.

I have tried creating auto-sized popus as a cross-reference, hyperlink, and as a link from an image map.  In all cases, the auto sizing does not work.  The popup displays with the correct content, but the popup is not sized properly. I have tried setting a specific width on the Body and Topic styles, but no matter what I have tried, the "auto-sized" popup seems to have the same dimensions.  I think it looks like the "auto-sized" pop up is using the 300x400 default setting of the custom sized popup.

Am I failing to set a parameter somewhere?  Has anyone gotten the auto-sized popups to work?

Thanks

John

It has been like this in all the new UI versions from 2019 onwards. I just tested in Classic as well and whilst it gave a larger popup, it still did not display all the content, which I would have expected given the content of the popup.

It seems to be autosize rather than autofit.

In case it helps. this is what the RH2017 help said about autosizing popups:

    Display In Auto-sizing Popup
Displays the destination topic in a pop-up window rather than in the viewer or browser. The
window size adjusts to the content. If you have a long topic, use a custom-sized pop-up.

Autosize could mean it adjusts the size but the content might not fit. Autofit would show all the content except where it is too much to fit in any window. It's a fine line and I think that sizing to the content is a reasonable expectation, not necessarily the only one though.

Thanks Peter.  I created this bug:

Not sure exactly what you mean by autosize rather than autofit, but in any case, I would expect it should at least create a popup that displays the full width of the linked topic with out the need to scroll.  Full height without the need to scroll would be nice too, at least for "reasonably" sized topic content.  It would need to scroll at some point of course...

It's the latest version - was it working for you before or are you trying this for the first time? (I ask only because Patch4 has been exhibiting some new bugs lately).

I have been trying off and on for a couple months...  it has always worked as I described.  So the application of the latest patch (which I did a couple days ago) made no difference.
