Question

Project failed to publish - corrupt area?

Versions: RoboHelp HTML 8 / RoboServer 8

I am attempting to publish a project and receiving the following error message:

Warning: Failed to publish to "VHW Help Server - v80 Area". reason: Unable to connect to the RoboHelp server on 64.209.137.197:8080/robohelp/server. If RoboHelp Server is not being used, generate WebHelp instead. More information on RoboHelp Server is available in the help file..

Information about my environment and process:

  • I have multiple areas defined on the server.
  • I have multiple layouts defined in the project --- each pointing to a different area on the server.
  • I am able to successfully publish the same project output to another area.
  • Server URL and credentials are the same in all layouts.
  • To verify that credentials in the SSL were valid, I created a duplicate of the layout from which I was trying to publish and pointed to a different area--I was able to publish successfully.

I have tried this same process from two projects--same result. It's the same area that seems to have the problem.

  1. Is it possible for an area on the server to become corrupt?
  2. Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Thank you.

Can you tell us the area names you are using? Maybe there is a special character there that is causing the issue?

The area names are based on product version number--e.g., v51, v6, v7, v71, v80. I am not able to publish to the v80 area. I am able to publish to the v6 and v71 areas successfully from the same project. (Note that I have been able to publish successfully to the v80 area for quite some time; this is a recent issue.)

Have you tried deleting all the content from this area in the Web Administrator and then republishing?
