RH 2020.6 > WebHelp Output > Search Returns Text from Excluded Conditional Tag

We have recently upgraded from RH2015 to 2020. We retooled our conditional tags into 2 groups; Products and Features.

  • There is text tagged for one of the Products at the content level within a topic.
  • This is information intended for our internal support staff and not end users.
  • The conditional expression I used in a test Output Preset excludes this Product.
  • Looking at the generated output, the excluded text does not appear in the topic, however, when I search for it, it is returned in a text string below the Search box.
  • Not sure if this is meaningful but the Skin is a duplicate of Asure Blue with our logo.

Thanks for any suggestions to resolve this issue.

Have you tried creating the image dropdown fresh in RH2020? The testing I did on a few earlier versions showed a bit of weirdness with complex tagging, because RH Classic got itself confused regularly and thus had crappy code behind the scenes.

If it works when you manually recreate, then you might be able to do a regular expression find and replace to correct the dodgy upgraded code to the new ui code - your developers should be able to help, and I believe RH2020 has better support for regular expressions than Classic - or you can use something like Notepad++ or TextCrawler (or whatever tool your developers have).

Thank you for this information. I used a workaround to keep the project moving forward but will circle back and try that.

Do you have Update 6 applied?

If you do, then that sounds like a bug. Please follow this link to report bugs or request new features. https://tracker.adobe.com. Post the link to your bug report / feature request in this thread and others can vote for it. The more people who do so, the higher it gets prioritised.

Perhaps test the same thing in a test project or one of the supplied samples first.

Thank you, Peter.  The problem appears to be in the update's migration of our tags. This particular conditional was in drop-down text that was attached to an image. We have trained our staff to click on a particular icon for 'insider' info. When I brought the text out of the drop-down, re-tagged it and generated with the same conditional expression, the search for that item returned 0 results. Will have to look for an alternate visual queue for them to use to differentiate this from our end-user content.
