RH Classic 2019: exclude topics from TOC

Hi everyone,

Question for all you wise people:

  • I have a FM2019 book with conditional text applied to some topics.
  • The Frame book is linked to a RH Classic 2019 project.
  • After importing the FM content into RH, the conditions are also imported with the topics.
  • In RH I have created build expressions to exclude some content from the output.
  • When I generate the output I get weird results:
  • The topics appear in the TOC even though they should not.
  • The topics are empty.

Seems that RH is excluding the content from the build but not excluding the topics from the TOC.

From the RH 2019 Classic user guide p283:

Table of contents: A TOC book or page that is linked to an excluded topic doesn’t appear in
the Contents pane.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Even after updating the FM book(s)?

Hiya,

I did the following:

  1. Updated the FM book. Result: TOC does not display the topics.
  2. In RH, created and new empty TOC. Set it as the default TOC.
  3. Did a Force Update All. Result: the RH TOC does display the topics
  4. Generated the output using build expressions that exclude the topics. Result: the topics are displayed in the TOC but have no content.

BTW, FM and RH keep crashing when I do a Force Update All with a new TOC (and other updates). I had the same issue with v2017. It's very tiresome.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Any news about this?

That could be the problem - in FM, the topics are all set to Show, but in RH you've applied CBTs to them. Try creating a new TOC in RH and use it to create the output as a test.

So here's the strange thing: they are not in the FM TOC. Even if I apply Show All they are not there 😞

Are you using the FM TOC or building one in RH?

I'm using the FM TOC.
