Question

RH2022 PDF TOC list only chapters

I've been having trouble with RoboHelp PDF outputs for a while now.  I was running RH2019 and my CHM files are fine but the PDF I created using the same source content didn't display TOC or index and the paragraph styles were not honored.  The TOC is in Book format and has Front and Back material configured, so that wasn't the problem.  I was told to upgrade so I just installed RH2022 and the PDF now honors styles and displays the index but the TOC only shows chatper headings with no topics under them. Anybody else run into this?

Thanks,

Tracy West

To see if that template is the issue, try adding a new Prime template.

Quick overview of the new terminology in RH2022. 🙂

The Printed Documentation output preset has been split into two different presets - PDF and Word. You'll be using the PDF preset (automatically chosen if you upgraded your project from Classic).

Master pages have been renamed to templates. You can find which template you're using in the Layout section of the output preset. Then you can edit them in the Templates panel. This is where you find the toc depth setting now. I haven't used the new PDF templates so I'm not familar with all the options, so I'd recommend going through Peter's documentation to see what they all do.

    Hi Peter,

I use a custom template based on the Printed Documentation template.

There aren't any attachments unfortunately. Did you reply be email? If so, I'm not sure if attachments would make it through.

    Hi Amebr,

    I'll try this again.

Thank you for your response to my question. I am familiar with Peter Grainge's website. I often refer to it when working on this project and the two others I am responsible for. Currently, this project is the only one that is giving me grief; the other two look great.

As for the TOC depth, I don't think there's a discrete setting for that any longer. I think it's controlled my the structure that is defined in the TOC file that you create and select in the PDF output preset.

I've attached screenshots of the my TOC config,

    my preset config,

the output TOC as it looked before the RoboHelp upgrade,

and the output TOC as it appears now.

Hopefullly this post is better.  Thanks again.

Have a look at Peter's Robohelp tour for information about pdf output presets/templates in RH2022. That might help. https://www.grainge.org

(Perhaps the toc depth setting is set to 1?)

IF that doesn't help, some screenshots of your ToC in RH might help, plus what you expect to see and what you actually see.
