Question

RH7 - Run-time error 49, already tried everything I've seen posted.

Trying to get RoboHelp 7 up and working. I had initial issues with both RoboHelp and RoboHTML. A complete uninstall (from Add/Remove programs, then clean up all folders, .dot files and regedit entries) and a re-install off the network without virus software running was done, and RoboHTML is working.

Still getting the same error for RoboHelp as I was getting before, when I open a project OR create a new project, as soon as Word opens I get a Run-time error 49, "Bad DLL Calling Convention". ]

Word and RH will remain open, and it appears that I can edit the file in Word until I try to save, I get an error window with no information on it. If I try to do a Save As, the file will save, but the updates to the file are not showing up when I regenerate the help file.

I have both Visual Studio 6 and 2005 installed on my machine. Word version is 2007. Cannot disable my virus software, when I'm on the network the computer does a check for software every 5-10 minutes and it will re-install & enable virus protection if it is not on the computer. I've removed all RH .dot files and replaced them, still get the error.

Any suggestions? Anyone??

This is the first time I've asked this question. And I have searched the forums. Many, many times. I've tried everything I've found here that might fix my problem, yet nothing has.

VS was installed on this machine before RoboHelp. And uninstalling VS isn't an option, I need it to run the software I need to document.

Thanks! I'm not new to the Adobe foums, my old login just got messed up.

RoboHelp.dot file is from 12/12/07.

Right after re-installation, before opening RH, I copied the .dot files to my desktop. Used those to replace system .dot files when I was having problems. Another time (I've been going at this for three days trying various things) I removed at the .dot files and did a repair from the install CD. Tried using older .dot files, and even got the same behavior (error 49).

Thought the question seemed familiar. Might be worth adding a link to the earlier thread.

I asked the question as I recently got a "Bad DLL Calling Convention" on one machine and trashing the templates fixed it.

Just a guess but have you tried uninstalling both RH and Visual Studio (VS)? If not I wonder if doing that and reinstalling with VS being installed first would fix it? Or even installing RH without VS just by way of proving a point?

Also have you searched these forums for just Visual Studio to see what it brings up? (Change your search history in your profile to a long period).

Welcome to the forum.

What is the date of RoboHelp.dot?

How did you replace the templates? What was the source?
