RoboHelp 2022 Responsive HTML5 - Opening topics in new window

I have the same question but the answers below don't seem to provide the proper solution. If I right-click on a topic and open in a new tab, I see the "Click here to see this page in full context" link, but I would like the page to automatically open in full context, with the TOC in the sidebar. Is there a way to do this?

I am using RoboHelp 2022.

Can you change to using a frameless output as you could then get around this problem? It would involve reworking your links and changing an context sensitive help calls that use URLs.

In a simple project I set up two links, one to open in the same window and one to open in a new window. In responsive help it works the same way as the right click option but in frameless help it opens with the TOC.

You simply double click the link in author mode and set the link to open in a new window.

You use the dropdown at the bottom of the dialog when you double click to change from Page Default to New Window.

The difference in the code is this.

    <p><a href="Second_Topic.htm">Same window</a></p>
    <p> </p>
    <p><a href="Second_Topic.htm" target="_blank">New window</a></p>

There is a downside to this, it will spawn a lot of tabs in the user's browser.

First, I'd update to the latest patch (#2 in May 2023) of RH2022. Then I'd check to see what form the URL address has if I right click on a TOC entry and copy the link & paste it in Notepad (not in a new browser tab, because the browser may perform some operation on it and change it & you won't see the initial syntax). Maybe include some screenshots of what you're seeing and what you want to see.

RoboHelp 11 didn't have responsive outputs. That's the important difference.

CORRECTION. RoboHelp 11 did have responsive outputs. I'll see if I can find anything about the calls tomorrow.

Yes, it [RH11] did (does) - you have your choice of 3 themes - Theme1_Standard, Theme2_Government, and Theme3_Black.

You can't. RoboHelp deals with it when you click links in the TOC and topics in the normal way. The right click option is a browser thing.

My issue is when I share pages of my help guide with users, they open the link and there is no navigation, only the "click here" link to view the page in full context. The original project built in RoboHelp 11 allowed me to share the same links and each one had the TOC navigation. Did this functionality change in the updated versions?

See this part of my topic on Calling Context Sensitive Help

Note the bit about opening the help using just the URL without the extra bit. I think what is happening is what you are clicking is part of the browser and that will not be able to apply the call needed.

Thanks, that's helpful, however I'm not sure where in the application I'm able to append the URL and add "#t=".

    Where can I do that?

Ok, let's put you in your own thread. Start with your patch version of RH2022 and what preset you are using to generate the output.

Sure, I'm using version 2022.0.346 of RoboHelp 2022 and the Responsive HTML5 output.
