I am working in Vista with Word 2007. I have not had any issues with RoboHelp to this point and...

I established my Printed Documentation layout standards and selected 'Finish'. Rather than receiving a word document, I received the following messages:

Marcros disabled. Refer to online help or documentation of host application to determine how to enable macros.
and
The Word VBA macros version registered is incorrect. Please reinstall printed documentation.

I modified the Word Macro settings to "Disable all macros except digitally signed macros". I have not changed anything about my RoboHelp installation.

What should my next step be?

I changed my security settings to allow 'all macros' and I was able to run my printed documentation. I assume, then, that I will manually 'manage' my Word settings from this point forward and allow macros whenever I request Printed Documentation. A small price to pay.

Ultimately, I added the Developers tab to my command ribbon as I believe I will need to access the Macros Security command frequently. That tab allows access to Code (including Visual Basic and Macro Security), Controls, XML, Protection, and Templates. Very helpful too!

As an aside, I 'knocked around' in Word 2007 and found the Macros Settings command. To confirm my selection, I also used the link you published to get to the Word 2003 - 2007 Comparison on the Microsoft site and followed their path. That is a helpful site!

You asked if I closed Word after changing the Macro Security settings and then reopened with the more stingent standards. The short answer to the question is No.

However, I have since closed the application and created more test Printed Documentation with no negative consequences.

So, my update seems to apply regardless of my Word status.

Thanks for that update Cindy. Sounds like that might be useful information. Did Word get closed after increasing the setting and before generating the second document?

UPDATE

I created my Printed Documentation with the new Macro Security settings (Enable all macros) then returned to Word and modified the Security settings to the more stringent level (Disable all Macros with notification).

I returned to my RoboHelp project, modified a few settings in the Print Documentation Wizard and requested another document.

MY 2nd REQUEST RAN WITHOUT ISSUE ON THE MORE STRINGENT MACROS SETTING and continues to create Printed Documentation. I have even left the project and returned at which point I requested another printed document. Hum...

Just wanted to keep you aware of the new circumstance. Interesting, very interesting.

There may be, however, I will need to spend some time researching that. I was hoping that Trusted Publishers or Trusted Locations could be my default. Same thought process, eh?

I really don't know. Haven't dug much into Vista / Word 2007 yet.

To prove this is the problem, I think I would try enabling all macros and then trying to generate. If that works, we know we are on the right track. If not, restore the settings.

I think another possibility is your virus checker. What are you using? McAfee?

Welcome to the forum

You need to change the Security setting to Medium.

If that does not work, take a look at Print Issues on my site. Although you are on later versions, it will be the same problems.

Love your site, but cannot find my answer.

The path you suggest; "In Word, go to Tools | Options | Security | Macro Security" I can't follow in Word 2007.

I did access my Macro Security path and selected Macro Settings. I have been delivered to a Trust Center. There, I have options of:

Macro Settings - For macros in documents not in a trusted location:
- Disable all macros without notification
- Disable all macros with notification
- Disable all macros except digitally signed macros ***** I selected this one. ******
- Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run)

or

Developer Macro Settings
- Trust access to the VBA project object model

Other Trust Center options are:
- Trusted Publishers
- Trusted Locations
- Add-ins
- ActiveX Settings
- (Macro Settings)
- Message Bar
- Privacy Options

If I don't have Medium to select, which would you recommend instead?
