RoboHelp is Changing the case of my HTML files

Hi,

RoboHelp is changing the case of my HTML files. The file is originally mixed case, but when the file is modified and then saved, RoboHelp is changing the name to all lowercase. We're using X.5.0.2, HTML help, no source code control, and we're not generating (compiling) the files. There does not appear to by an option to make RoboHelp stop doing this. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix this?

Thank you,

- Phil

I tried scenario 1 in the document that Phil sent me importing three files, UPPERCASE.HTM. MixedCase.htm and lowercase.htm.

In X5 they are indeed all converted to lowercase. I hadn't spotted that before as I tend to work with lowercase filenames anyway.

I repeated the test in RH6. Whilst the dialog telling you what has been imported shows all three files with lowercase names, the Topic List and Windows Explorer retains the case. Looks like a bug that was half fixed! At least you end up with what you want.

Upgrading to RH6 did indeed fix the problem. Thanks again.

Thanks Peter. I'll upgrade to RH6 and give it a go.

Show me a file that before import. Show me that file in RoboHelp immediately after import and then after you have made some change. Show me that file again in Windows Explorer. Imagine your boss has told you he wants proof and get an image of each stage to prove your point.

Which screens do you need?

I don't know how you are getting RH to do what it is doing as it has never happened to anyone else that I know of. Sending me some screenshots might help.

The problem I'm having is not what RoboHelp is showing in its window, but what RoboHelp is doing to the name of the file on disk, as would be seen by the Windows explorer (or from a DOS prompt). I have a file, SomeFile.htm for example. This file does not exist in a RoboHelp project, nor has it been previously opened by RoboHelp. Now, if I add SomeFile.htm to a RoboHelp project, or just open it in RoboHelp, make a change, and then save this file, RoboHelp converts the file name to lowercase, so I end up with somefile.htm on disk. If I look at this file via the Windows explorer (or at a DOS prompt), it has been renamed to somefile.htm. I don't won't RoboHelp to do this. I want RoboHelp to leave the case of the filename as it exists on the disk alone.

How do I get RoboHelp to do this?

Initially it is mixed case but when you add it to the project it is lowercase, but you also say in Project Manager it is mixed case. It cannot be different between Project Manager and the Topic pane as that is looking at the same database.

First, you are definitely looking at file names in Project Manager?

Can you take a screenshot of the same file in Project Manager and the Topic tab and send it to me via my site?

Yes, in the Project Manager (left window) under HTML Files (Topics) it is mixed case, but in the right window under Topics and on the disk (Windows XP), it is all lowercase. Initially, the file on disk is mixed case, but when I open it or add it the project, RoboHelp converts it to lowercase.

Can you clarify where this change is occurring? Are you saying that in Project Manager it is mixed case but when you modify a file it becomes lowercase in the source?

What version are you using?
