RoboHelp Issue: target="_blank” getting mysteriously added at runtime to html

Has anyone come across similar issue in RoboHelp? Please help.

Breadcrumbs and Links open in new tabs at random instances when output is hosted on the web server. On inspecting, it shows that target="_blank" has been appended though it was not a part of the original output.

Original code:

<a class="breadcrumbs-link" style="text-decoration: none; color: inherit" href="../Home_Page/Help_Center.htm">Help Center</a>

Code after target="_blank” getting appended:
<a class="breadcrumbs-link" style="text-decoration: none; color: inherit" href="../Home_Page/Help_Center.htm" target="_blank">Help Center</a>

(How you would get external links in the breadcrumbs is a different question 🙂  )

The only thing I can think of is if there is a function in the scripts that detects when a URL is external to the current website and adds "target" to those links. It's the only way I can think of that target would be added to breadcrumbs at runtime.

There are several older threads with users wanting to specify how topics etc open and none have an answer. Nothing works.

You can try Support but I doubt they will have an answer. Please post it here if you do get one.

See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

Ok, so what version of RH are you using? Is it up to date? Take a look at how you've inserted the link reference - are there any controls exposed about opening a new tab/window? Is it also happening in the sample project?

I am using version 2020.8.34 of RoboHelp. This issue is with multiple projects. Attaching a screenshot of the option which I have used for inserting the link.

Older versions of RH had a bunch of options in the drop-down list - is that the case in your RH2020 version? Have you tried playing with them to see what results you get?

That's the usual syntax for forcing the link to open in a new tab/new window from what I can recall - when you added the link, was there some control over that aspect?

I want the tab to open in the same tab and not a new tab. This target="_blank" attribute is being added automatically at runtime.
