Question

Running the on screen keyboard in Robohelp

We display our help on a touch screen PC. Is it possible to run the on screen keyboard to enable a search string to be manually entered on the Search page?

Any guidance would be appreciated, including alternatives.

Surely any touch screen device should enable the on-screen keyboard when a field is tapped?

Hi Peter,

Currently in our software application a PDF version of the manual is displayed when touching an icon in the tool bar. The only active navigation available is the scroll bar. Touching the search field places the cursor in the field but a keyboard does not pop up.

I'm replacing the PDF with a Help system so that touching the icon in the tool bar launches the applicable topic in a web browser window. I can navigate through the topics using the TOC but again I cannot use the search function as no keyboard pops up when the search filed is selected. I had hoped that this feature would be built into Robohelp as touch screens are becoming very popular.

I have managed to launch the keyboard by using a hyperlink to open the osk.exe file before selecting the search tab, but this is a very clumsy solution.

Regards

MikeL

Because the problem is happening with more than just the Rh output, I am still inclined to the view that this is an OS problem. However, I have nothing to substantiate that.

What is the operating system in use and what browser is being used for the webhelp?

What version of Rh are you using?
