Question

Section within a section? Robohelp

Is it possible to put a section within a section like the below in the TOC? When I output to a word document it puts the 2 sections at the same level even though they are in a hierarchy in Robohelp.  I'm using 2022.2.22.

Create the nearest you can to what you want. Then show us an image of the TOC and the output explaining what's wrong.

Try it in a dummy project so that any errors don't matter.

Everything in Word is based on heading levels. That is a Word limitation. There is more control in the PDF output if you can use that.

The only difference with a book to is that it allows you to add front and back matter. Experiment with the settings. You'll soon get the hang of it. Come back if stuck when you have given it a try.

What happens is (A) below, but I want it to look like (B) below.  It seems the sections flatten out no matter where you put them in the TOC in Robohelp.  Is this supposed to happen or is there a setting that helps fix this?

I think I figured it out.  Seems like you need to play around with the headings.   This page on your site was particularly useful.  Thanks! Will reach back out if I get stuck again 🙂

The appearance of the TOC in Word depends on how you configure the settings.

Thank you Peter, I see this mentioned in your website.  Will book TOC's flatten out the sections?  I would want my word TOC to be like the left, where, Fifth Topic is under Section Three, and Section Three is under Section Two.
