See Also Best Practices

I am using TCS 2015, of course with my writing done in FrameMaker and the Webhelp done in Robohelp, with all the FM files linked in RH. What are the best practices for implementing See Also references in RH? When I use the See Also pod, the topics are deleted when I update the linked files. I assume I have to do something in particular in FM, but I am struggling to figure out what.
