After compiling, HTML Help file opens to a topic in the middle of the TOC. How can I set it to open to a Title Page?

whoops, don't know what I did, but BINGO! it works; opening page is Cover Page with product logo! Now, I can cut the Cover Page from the TOC, leaving it in the project and the Cover Page still shows on when chm opens!

Now it opens to a black page. The first book has a link to topic page called Cover Page, with a destination that is Cover page.htm. Changing the order of the books does not matter; the first page of the chm is still blank. In the Single Source Layout, Select Properties, I changed the Default Topic. The properties for the book, cover page and topic all point to Cover Page.htm as the destination. Yet a regenerated chm still opens with a blank first page.

OK, that was very specific, Colum, and it worked. I created a new TOC page called "Title," but when I go choose it as the default topic page - I don't see it in the list of files on Source Layout's Select Menu?

You can choose any topic to use as your default topic.

Hi there

If you simply made a new entry in the TOC that pointed to perhaps foo.htm but was named "Title" in the TOC, you would need to point the default topic to the foo.htm page referenced.

Remember, the TOC nodes can say anything you like.

Cheers... Rick

Change the default topic when you generate the help.

Right click on your Single Source Layout. Select Properties. In there is a default topic field. Select the topic you want to display and recompile.
